Lesson 4: God is Omnipotent (All-powerful)

  • God created the sun – He spoke it into being with “Let there be light.”
  • Story of how Jesus was able to stop a storm with His word. The wind and the waves obey Him.
  • God is so powerful that He can speak things into being with a word.
  • CRAFT/ACTIVITY: 1) have the kids try to move the table by telling the table to move, 2) have the kids try to push a big table together – they may be able to move it an inch with much difficulty, but God is so powerful He could move it in an instant with a word. 3) Prepare a sprouted bean to show the kids and then a picture of what it becomes (or just a picture of the stages of bean to plant)
  • SUGGESTED SONGS:

Lesson 5: God is Omnipresent (Everywhere)

  • They never have to feel alone – God is always with them. When they’re missing mommy or daddy, God is there with them.
  • God stays with you wherever you go, whether you’re at home, school, or the meeting.
  • Tell the kids one by one that God goes home with each of them. He is with all of them in all of their homes at the same time.
  • Sometimes the children may do things they’re not supposed to do when mom and dad aren’t watching (ex: sneak candy). God always sees everything we do. We cannot hide anything from Him.
  • CRAFT/ACTIVITY: 1) Ask the kids to be in 2 places at the same time (ex: in the lesson room and in the playroom) – no matter how fast you move, you can’t be in 2 places at once 2) print a picture of the earth and let the kids paste “God is here” all over the earth, 3) pictures of school, home, meeting hall, etc. and have the kids paste “God” and themselves as a boy or girl cutout so they know God is with them in each of those familiar areas
  • SUGGESTED SONGS:
1302 BE STRONG (Sing to the Lord #23), 52 GOD IS ALWAYS NEAR ME, 15 WALKING WITH JESUS (Action, vol. 3, #73), 4 BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU DO, 2842 GOD IS OMNIPRESENT

  • God loves us so much He gives us everything we need: our mommy and daddy, food to eat, clothes to wear. Not everything you want, but everything you need
  • CRAFT/ACTIVITY: 1) make a paper chain of children that each child could hold and write name on each person (to post in the classroom), 2) picture with kids around the world, a heart and “God”

Lesson 8: God is Holy

  • God is holy; He is special. No one is like Him. He is worthy to be praised.
  • Story of Moses and the burning bush. Moses noticed that the burning bush was so special and so different. The fire in the bush didn’t burn up the bush because God was there. Moses had to take his shoes off because it was holy ground.
    • Certain things are set apart and special in regular life where we can’t wear shoes (ex: in the house or bed). God is the most special, the most holy, so Moses had to take off his shoes at the burning bush where God was.
  • The children should have the proper respect toward God. We need to treat Him with the most respect. When we are praying, we shouldn’t be silly. We are doing something very special when we are talking to God.

Lesson 10: God is Righteous

  • God is righteous. When we do things, we have to think what is the right thing to do?
  • God always sees what we are doing, even if no one else sees what we are doing. We always want to do things right because God is always watching.
  • Always be honest – telling the truth vs. lying
  • God gives us parents and teachers to help us learn right and wrong.
  • Give the children scenarios and ask them what is the right thing to do:
    • If mom tells you not to eat a cookie before dinner, and you see a cookie, what should you do?
    • If mom tells you to clean up and go to bed and you want to keep playing, what should you do?
    • What are the rules for crossing the street? If the cars are crossing the sheet, should you go?
    • If the teacher tells you a rule, do you follow the rule?

  • Ask the children to tell us one or two things they are thankful for.
  • We can always give thanks for our food before we eat.
  • We should be thankful for things we don’t think about and take for granted (ex: the sun, the rain, the clouds, air, water).
  • The Lord created all the beautiful things in the world (ex: lakes, mountains, rainbows).
  • Thankful for mom and dad, children’s meeting, friends, aunties who bring the snacks, the clothes they wear, a place to live, etc.
  • It’s important to say thank you – to the Lord, to their parents, to friends who share a toy. Saying thank you is an expression of our thankfulness.
  • We as serving ones should also be a pattern and practice saying thank you to each other and to the children.
  • CRAFT/ACTIVITY: Have the children make a thank you card for someone and give it to them after the meeting (print a template for them to color or they can draw a picture, decorate with stickers)

  • A parent can show mercy to a child when the child makes a mistake and says sorry.
  • Children can be merciful to their siblings or friends by letting them take a longer turn or letting them choose what to play.
  • One way to show mercy to others is to forgive them.
  • CRAFT/ACTIVITY: 1) Make “mercy coupons” – stack of heart cutouts that they can give others a “free pass”. 2) Make a heart out of modeling clay they can keep with them as a reminder to have mercy on others.

Lesson 25: God is Forbearing

  • We all have our breaking point, but we need to be forbearing, kind, patient, and forgiving of others, just as God is forbearing towards us.
  • We can define forbearing for young children. Forbearing means to be patient or self controlled when subject to annoyance or provocation. In simple terms, we can be kind to someone even when they may not deserve it. We need to pray for the Lord to help us be forbearing.
  • Story of the prodigal son is a good illustration of the father forgiving and receiving his son back. The son had left his family and wasted all his inheritance. The son deserved punishment, but the father forgave him. God is forgiving like that to us.
  • CRAFT/ACTIVITY IDEAS: (1) Paste or color scenes of children playing nicely with each other, such as an older sibling and younger sibling playing together; (2) Color picture of the prodigal son being warmly received by his father; (3) trace and cut shape of two hands and paste on each end of a horizontal half-size paper to represent the father welcoming the son back with open arms. Add circle for head and add googly eyes.

  • Teach the children that other children who act or look different shouldn’t be left out but be included. Treat all friends well, not just ones you like. Don’t make fun of other children.  Don’t make other children feel bad or left out. Try to include others and make them feel welcome.
  • SONGS: 9527  Vessels Unto Honor Song #7 – No One Likes to be Left Out

  • Two sides of being prudent: being careful and being prepared.
  • Examples:
    • Ants, squirrels storing food for the winter.
    • Ask the kids what they bring to daycare/school; do they remember to take everything home?
    • Do they put their toys back where they belong?
    • Do they wash their hands after the bathroom and before they eat?
  • CRAFT/ACTIVITY: 1) Ant collecting food, 2) Squirrel collecting nuts

Lesson 36: God is Kind

May 5, 2024

Lesson 37: God is Severe (Strict)

  • God is strict and parents are strict for the children’s benefit. God’s strictness is actually a kindness to us.
  • There’s a reason for the rule.
  • Why do your parents tell you to clean up? Imagine if no one put anything back and you can’t find anything — everything is dirty, things get broken, etc.
  • We have to be disciplined – to know how to behave and how to act (ex: kids cannot be screaming and throwing a tantrum in the store).
  • God is orderly, everything is done in a strict way (ex: our hearts can’t beat whenever they want – there is a regular rhythm and it has to continue beating)
  • Another example of being orderly is following traffic lights and WALK/DON’T WALK signs. What would happen if cars and people did not follow those signs?
  • CRAFT/ACTIVITY IDEAS: 1) traffic light – kids can glue on the colors in the right spot, 2) other traffic signs (ex: stop, slow down, etc.)
  • SUGGESTED SONGS: 9528   Vessels Unto Honor Song #8 6732   TRUST AND OBEY (Hymns #582, verses 1&5) (CHORUS ONLY)
